That belief is the whole reason Payroom exists. Too many small-business owners open their books and feel their stomach drop. We started this so that opening the books is a five-minute glance, not a bad afternoon.

We're a small bookkeeping and payroll shop working with the shops, trades, and one-person businesses in and around McCurtain — the folks who are great at what they do and would rather never touch a spreadsheet again.

Payroom began with a familiar scene: a friend who ran a good little business kept a year of receipts in a shoebox because the accounting software made her feel stupid. She wasn't stupid — the tools just weren't built for people who already have a full-time job running their shop.

So we made the opposite of that. You send us the mess, we sort it out, and we tell you what it means in words you'd actually use. No dashboards you have to learn. No reports you're afraid to open.

Today we keep the ledgers current, run payroll, and file the quarterly numbers for a handful of businesses across McCurtain — small enough that we know every one of them by name, and by slow season.
